Daycare Faq's

Please reach us at woof@thedowntownpaw.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

To enroll your dog in The Downtown Paw, you can fill out our online registration form or visit our facility to complete the registration process in person. We also require a copy of your dog's vaccination records. You can enroll here.

You can visit our Vaccines page for all our required vaccinations.

No, we do not have any breed restrictions. We welcome dogs of all breeds and sizes as long as they are friendly and well-behaved around other dogs. Each dog is required to take a temperament test before joining group.

Each day can vary depending on the group of dogs that we have. We will group by play style/energy level, and size. Our Tiny Tribe (little dogs) are introduced to our larger daycare friends and often like to pick a big dog to stay with and learn from.

Yes! Dogs are supervised the entire time that they are here. Puppies or dogs under 4 months, have a staff member with them for the entire duration of their visit.

dog Grooming faq's

Please reach us at woof@thedowntownpaw.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A: If your dog is a daycare client and has already been through their evaluation, then they can join daycare before or after their groom.

Non-daycare clients will need to pick up their pets after their groom to avoid being charged a late pick-up fee. Clients are called 15 minutes before their pet's groom is scheduled to be finished.

Any pickups over 30 minutes late will be charged for a full day of daycare. Pets picked up after closing or 4pm (unless previously discussed) will be charged a $65 boarding fee.

A: No! Your dog does not have to be a daycare client to get groomed. If you are interested in daycare, all new grooming clients get half off their dogs first daycare day!

A: You can read about required vaccines on our Vaccine Page

A: Appointments may need to be rescheduled if clients are running late for their scheduled groom.  Grooming appointments are scheduled for an allotted amount of time based on your pets' grooming needs. Please call to let us know if you are running late to make sure we'll still have time to complete your pet's groom.

A: Yes. No call/no shows for scheduled appointments will be charged a $50 fee. Same day cancellations/reschedules will be charged a $25 fee. This charge will be taken from the card on file.

cat grooming faq's

Please reach us at woof@thedowntownpaw.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A: While you may come across one of our shop dogs when you enter the store, you and your cat will be given an all clear to enter once we have moved the dogs away. We'll also clear any dogs that are in the walkway when we walk your cat to our salon at the back of our store.

A: No. Our grooming salon grooms one dog or cat at a time, but never at the same time. Your pet will be the only one being groomed when they are here. Dogs will not be in the room when cats are being groomed.

A: For cats that are afraid of loud noises or are not a fan of being dried with our hand-held dryers, we have a temperature-controlled cat drying box that allows them to be on their own and be dried at the same time. This does have a longer drying time than our traditional hand-held dryers.

A: Yes! We will attempt a groom with water to see how your cat will handle it. If they are scared or stressed by the water, we have waterless options available.

boarding Faq's

Please reach us at woof@thedowntownpaw.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A: Any dog that boards with us will also need to pass a temperament test. All boarding dogs join in group play during the day while they stay with us.

No, we do not have any breed restrictions. We welcome dogs of all breeds and sizes as long as they are friendly and well-behaved around other dogs.

A: Dogs have the choice to sleep in a kennel or sleep kennel free. Most dogs will choose to sleep in one of the open kennels that we have in our overnight room. A staff member is on site with the dogs 24/7 when boarding and sleeps in the same overnight room as your dogs.

A: While our location doesn't have an outdoor space, all boarding dogs are given walks during the day to make sure they get outside while staying with us. Additional walks can be requested.

Prices are subject to change without notice.  Prices do not include MA State Sales Tax where applicable.  Bath club memberships do not include your pets' regular grooming appointments. Refunds are not available after 24 hours. Your pet's safety is our top priority. Daycare & grooms can be canceled or cut short if your pet is showing signs of stress or their safety or the daycare attendant/groomer's safety is of concern due to your pets' behavior.
